History:
Borah High School is a secondary three-year public school in Boise, Idaho serving students in grades 10, 11, and 12. It is named after William E. Borah, a prominent U.S. Senator for over 32 years and a presidential candidate in 1936.
The school opened in the fall of 1958 and was the second high school in the Boise School District. It was preceded by Boise High School in 1902, and followed by Capital in 1965, and Timberline in 1998.
The school sits on a sprawling campus, with five permanent buildings, connected by outdoor covered "breezeways." The original 1958 campus featured three structures: the main classroom building, with a designated hall for each of the three grade levels, and a cafeteria, library, main office and other assorted features. The other two buildings were the "math hall" (math and industrial arts); and the "old gym," which contained the school's original gymnasium, publications staff room, orchestra, band, and weight room facilities.
A second gym was added to the campus in 1993, commonly known as the "new gym," which was renovated in 2007–08. A large auditorium was constructed on the west end of the campus in 2000.
Athletic facilities include four gymnasiums (our “new gym” has the largest seating capacity of any high school in the state of Idaho and is the home of the Boys 4A State Basketball Tournament), a natural-grass soccer pitch, a state of the art baseball facility (which was voted the best in the state of Idaho) and indoor hitting facility, a new all-weather eight lane track, two weight rooms, the Dona Larsen Football field located in beautiful downtown Boise, two softball fields, a completely padded two mat wrestling room & our “old gym” which has been tailored specifically for wrestling matches, the use of the beautiful Hillcrest Country Club Golf Course, six resurfaced all-weather tennis courts, and a large sports medicine facility.
