Northern Arizona University offers undergraduate and graduate students a high-caliber global education set in a tight-knit community of students, faculty, staff, and alumni. We are also renowned for providing students with personal attention from professors, research opportunities, and hands-on learning.

History:

Founded in 1899, Northern Arizona University has established a powerful legacy of educating students to help them make a difference in the world. The foundation of this legacy rests in the people who comprise the NAU community – faculty, students, staff, and alumni.

Our legacy has been marked by a significant expansion of programs, services, and facilities designed to help meet student needs. During the 1960s and 1970s, the Flagstaff campus underwent a significant period of construction and expansion in order to keep pace with a rapidly growing student population. The university has continued to commit significant resources to serving students: the past decade has seen the creation of a variety of student-centered spaces, including some of the greenest buildings the world. In the near future, the university plans to unveil a new Health and Learning Center and a Native American Cultural Center.
