History:
Alan C. Pope High School was founded in 1987. It is a Standard Public School of the State of Georgia and is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. In 1989, Pope received the prestigious Georgia Blue Ribbon of Excellence in only its second year of operation. The school mascot is the greyhound. The original school colors were Columbia blue and silver grey. In the 1990's Navy and white were added.
