About Us:
Stissing Mountain Middle School is located in a rural area just north of Poughkeepsie, New York, in the scenic Hudson Valley. The district encompasses a large agricultural community, from Dairy to Equine to produce farms. It is comprised of a mixture of all socio-economic backgrounds and welcomes any and all diversity.
Stissing Mountain Middle School currently has approximately 225 students enrolled in Grades 6-8. There are over 25 teachers in the Middle School, which allows us to provide a unique and very individualized educational experience.
In recent years, Stissing Mountain Middle School has invested heavily in technology. Every student in the Middle School is issued and takes home a tablet or laptop computer. Many of our textbooks are now online, including Science, Social Studies and Spanish. Students take many up to date classes in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) areas in the Middle school. These include Digital Literacy and Engineering by Design, with more to come in the near future. We are dedicated to teaching and using skills and resources that will help make them successful students in high school and beyond.
The Middle School also offers many extra-curricular activities including but not limited to: Sci-Fi Club, Foreign Language Club, FFA, and athletics.
