York Suburban Middle School is a virbrant learning environment that promotes academic excellence for all students. It is an authentic feeling of "PRIDE" permeating the halls and classrooms of the York Suburban Middle School (YSMS) that leverages our school's ability to continually build upon the tradition of providing exemplary middle level education designed to meet the academic, creative, and emotional needs of every student.
The YSMS staff maximizes achievement for every student within a supportive and safe learning environment. This is possible due to highly-qualified teachers and staff committed to each student's intellectual, physical, and emotional needs. YSMS understands that preadolescent children bridge the critical educational span between elementary school and high school, and we design our school environment and instruction to match those needs.
At YSMS, we believe that positive self-concept is benefited by embracing the development of the 'whole' child. Students are provided opportunities to explore various clubs, participate in interscholastic athletics, contribute to various musical ensembles, enrich or remediate their academics, and participate in an advisory group. These offerings allow students to explore and develop their interests and passions as they mature through middle school age adolescence.
With the combined efforts of school, families, and community working collaboratively, we will continue to raise the bar for all YSMS students so they go forward with the skills, creativity, knowledge, and confidence necessary to be successful learners in the highly competitive 21stcentury society.
